A triplex penthouse receives a luxe update

Designer Kenneth Tanti gives the grand central Tigné residence an elegant makeover with bespoke interiors.
Texture and colour work hand in hand in this outstanding property that is in one of the most desirable coastal locations in Malta. Overlooking the main harbour, it enjoys panoramic sea views with the captivating skyline of the island’s capital historic city, Valletta, in the background.
As experts in their field of interior design and furnishings, Kenneth Tanti and his team of Tanti Interiors Design Studio along with soft furnishing and high-end décor company, Fabulous Ltd, worked closely with their client to create a comfortable and stylish family home that afforded both personal space and a sense of togetherness.
The result is nothing short of spectacular, as the designers revealed that the main challenge was not the scale of the project but rather the three-month timeframe within which the refurbishment needed to be finished.
The property commands an elevated position and spans three floors. It is a triplex with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, several balconies, and terraces together with a roof top pool, along with an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
The result is essentially a skilful combination of contemporary and classic styles to create a timeless look of understated elegance and comfort.
The cohesive style becomes immediately apparent the moment one sets foot inside, as Persian rugs, bespoke furniture and selected art pieces effectively draw the visitor into the primary living area: an open, split-level kitchen and dining area set above a spacious lounge.
The lounge is occupied by sofas and armchairs with a chic statement bar set alongside a mirrored wall that is reminiscent of a nautical theme, whilst the strategic placing of furniture creates a feeling of different zones with the living space whilst remaining within the open plan precept.
A spacious terrace effectively mirrors the interior layout of the lounge area adding to the sense of the inside and outside being unified as one, an important conceptual theme of this luxurious home. Indeed, this property certainly delivers when it comes to enjoying Malta’s wonderful climate with an elevated decked roof pool with uninterrupted views of the harbour along with a spacious al fresco dining area.
All five bedrooms exude a feeling of luxury and sophistication with a strong textural appeal combined with the use of neutral tones to create contrast and comfort. Rugs underfoot echo this effect, whilst the selected use of brushed metals and mirrored surfaces create contrast and focal interest.
In the living space the use of rich marbles on the bespoke wine bar and the television cabinet whisper of luxury and add aesthetic appeal and contrast to the featherbone parquet flooring underfoot.
This home is an excellent example how texture and colour have been used to complement and accentuate one another with a harmonious result. From the main living areas where velvets and layered textiles combine effortlessly, to the bedrooms, the result is a welcoming ambience of understated elegance that elicits an emotional response of peace and tranquillity in a luxurious setting.
