The Gozitan couturier, Luke Azzopardi, was introduced to the world of music, arts, and fashion by his parents from a very young age. He later studied Fashion and Costume Design at Central Saint Martins (UAL) in London and at the University of Malta.
Soon after, he launched his prêt-à-couture brand in Malta and had his first atelier at Camilleri Paris Mode, creating the most beautiful wedding dresses out of their exquisite lace and other fabrics.
Today, Luke Azzopardi is one of Malta’s most renowned fashion designers, and among his several talents is his unique ability to combine historical aesthetics with a bold contemporary twist.
Following his success, Luke opened his studio in Birkirkara. Walking toward his showroom you can feel the glamorous richness of his couture through the wide glass fenestration. The opulent lime colour which adorns his entire atelier evokes tranquillity and comfort, which creates the perfect ambience to consult with Luke for bespoke garments.
After meeting directly with each client, the garment assembly can take up to 120 hours and requires up to three fittings. Under the creative direction of Luke Azzopardi, the studio works tirelessly to ensure the original idea is captured, intricately cut, and hand stitched to perfection.
It is the ambition of the creative director for the brand to deliver understated elegance—style without pretence.
Luke also has a strong history with The Phoenicia Malta. He was showcased as its Artist in Residence during the month of June 2021, as well as being the creative mind behind the reopening of the Club Bar at this iconic hotel, where he fashioned a capsule collection of four exclusive cocktails for visitors and guests.
Luke’s passion for designing garments which are breathtaking works of art also extends into the world of theatre. He is responsible for the costumes created for several operas in Malta and Gozo, collaborating with many professionals, including renowned artist Kenneth Zammit Tabona, to produce a memorable and striking aesthetic onstage that has impacted the local theatrical scene.
