New look on the Coast Road

Words Jim Dunn

Things are happening, changes are afoot down on the coast road, near the famous Maltese Salt Pans, at one of Malta’s oldest and most popular restaurants.

At ta’ Cassia Salina restaurant… (the building is over 200 years’ old and housed a brothel many years ago) but now a new generation has arrived in the shape of Sara Attard who is taking over the running of the show. There’s a new look to the menu but with all the old favourites still available… fresh fish and local rabbit.

I always enjoy going there for a meal whether it’s lunch or on a winters’ evening. It’s got rustic, shabby chic charm with flagstones and open fires on those few cold evenings. This is old Malta charm in my book.

Sara has taken over from her parents her German mother Sabine and her Maltese father Manuel and is fulfilling her ambition to become a restaurateur.

It’s happening all over Malta and it’s good news…the next generation is moving in with new and fresh ideas.
